Hives
Cookies & Your Privacy
Effective: August 13, 2026
Learn how we use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience on Hives.
Cookies and similar technologies help Hives remember your session, keep the marketplace secure, understand how our product is used, store locale and UI preferences, and (where you allow) improve relevance. This policy works alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device. Similar technologies include pixels, local storage, session storage, and software development kits (SDKs) in mobile apps. Together we refer to them as "cookies" unless we specify otherwise.
2. How Hives uses cookies
2.1 Strictly necessary
Required for core functionality: sign-in sessions and refresh tokens, security and fraud prevention, load balancing, cookie consent records, transaction checkout state, and preferences that you ask us to remember (such as locale, theme, or notification defaults where we offer them).
2.2 Performance and analytics
Help us understand how visitors use Hives (pages viewed, errors, feature usage, feed and map interactions) so we can improve stability and design. Where required by law, we place these only after you consent.
2.3 Functional
Remember settings that enhance your experience—for example, theme or layout choices, recently viewed searches, saved filter state, and workspace UI preferences stored locally when available.
2.4 Marketing and social (if used)
If we use advertising or social pixels, they may help measure campaigns or remarketing. We will describe specific partners in product consent tools where applicable.
3. Third parties
We may allow trusted partners to set cookies when their technology is embedded in the Services—for example, payment processors (such as Paystack), maps, analytics, OAuth providers (Google, Apple, Facebook), or customer support widgets. Those partners' practices are governed by their own policies.
4. Your choices
- Browser controls: most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of Hives may not work—including sign-in, checkout, and transaction flows.
- Industry tools: you can learn about ad opt-outs from industry groups such as the Digital Advertising Alliance or European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance, where available in your region.
- Mobile devices: OS and app settings may limit tracking or reset advertising identifiers.
5. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change our practices or add new technologies (for example, new payment or map integrations). Check the effective date at the top of this page.
