Privacy Policy
Effective: August 13, 2026
Learn how Hives collects, uses, protects, and manages your information.
Before you scroll — the essentials
- Hives is a marketplace. We process data to run accounts, organizations, listings, the social feed, rent/buy/shortlet transactions, Hives Link, payments, verification, and compliance workflows.
- You control key settings. Update profile, marketing, language, notification, and cookie preferences where we offer them in product or browser settings.
- We share when needed. With service providers, when you direct us, with other users as part of marketplace operations, in business transfers, or when required to protect users and the platform.
This Policy supplements our Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.
1. Introduction
Hives ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process personal information when you use our websites, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.
2. Information we collect
2.1 You provide
- Account data: name, email, phone, password or SSO tokens, profile photo, role (e.g. explorer, provider, agent), language and region preferences, and notification settings.
- Organization data: business name, team membership, roles, invitations, verification documents, and organization profile content.
- Listing and transaction data: property descriptions, media, pricing, availability, payment preferences, rent requests, buy offers, short-stay bookings, Hives Link entries, messages and structured responses you send through Hives, and documents you upload for verification or sale compliance.
- Social and community data: feed posts, comments, hashtags, bookmarks, follows, Connect profile information, and content you choose to share publicly or with followers.
- Payment and billing data: processed by payment partners; we typically receive limited information (e.g. last four digits, authorization status, payout account metadata, subscription plan), not full card numbers on our servers.
- Support: information you provide when you contact us.
2.2 Automatic collection
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, app version, dates and times of access, referring URLs, and crash diagnostics.
- Usage data: properties viewed, searches, saves, feed interactions, transaction events, clicks, and in-app events that help us operate and improve the Services.
- Approximate location: derived from IP or device settings to show relevant listings, map results, and comply with regional requirements.
- Provider analytics: aggregated reach, listing performance, and discoverability metrics where enabled for your workspace.
See our Cookie Policy for specifics on cookies and similar technologies.
2.3 From others
We may receive information from business partners, analytics providers, fraud-prevention vendors, payment processors, public sources, or other users (for example, when a co-host invites you to a listing workspace or organization).
3. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, secure, and personalize the Services.
- Create and manage accounts and organizations; authenticate users; conduct verification and risk checks.
- Operate discovery, feed, Connect, map search, saved listings, and recommendation features.
- Facilitate rent requests, buy offers, short-stay bookings, Hives Link, transaction timelines, and payments where available.
- Process subscriptions (including Hive Prestige), invoices, payouts, and settlement workflows.
- Review sale listings and property documents under our compliance program.
- Send service-related notices, security alerts, and (where permitted) marketing you can opt out of.
- Measure performance, debug, conduct analytics, and develop new features.
- Comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect rights, safety, and property.
5. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type; for example, we may keep transaction and payment records longer than transient logs or draft feed posts.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights, contact us using the details below. We may verify your request before responding.
Marketing emails include unsubscribe instructions. You can adjust some preferences in your account settings, organization workspace, or device OS settings for push notifications. Language and region preferences can be updated in settings where available.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls for transaction and payment data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International transfers
We may process information in countries other than where you live, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.
9. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide additional notice as required by law.
